Meet the artist, Jean Campbell

Birmingham Artist Jean Campbell stops to smell the flower at the Birmingham Museum of Art

Do you revel in the captivating play of brilliant sunshine against rich shadows? Visions of gorgeous, natural light are soothing, even healing. It’s like the natural world wants you to be bathed in a state of meditation. Fleeting visions that induce a sense of being a welcome part of the world are important. If this speaks to you, you might like what my artwork is about.

My work is a reminder to
pay attention.

It’s about the conscious act of stopping to see what most pass by without a thought; the hard-working bee in a gorgeous bloom, the beautiful pattern on the back of a toad, the stunning imagery of afternoon light and shadow.

When you look at the world this way, you quiet the inner noise, and in that moment of reverie, you fall in love. And don’t we all want to protect what we love?
